The Damage Assessed: 2

The US investigative news program Sixty Minutes in cooperation with the Washington Post were supposed to really disgrace the online casino gambling industry and particularly the Tokwiro’s two poker gambling sites that were involved in the cheating scandals. There has been a careful examination of the issue as well as the whole industry and many from the poker gambling industry were expecting that the program would damage the reputation of Tokwiro’s poker sites involved in the issue and consequently, the whole industry will suffer. The program aired last Sunday and as it turned out, it was not that bad as most expected.

True, the opening seemed to foreshadow some tragic developments, yet it was not that dreadful. Actually, there were no dire statements and most of the information presented was factual and merely a re-presentation of many facts associated with the scandals. The only thing that the online poker gamblers and the community could be angry about is the general picture of the US online gambling industry that was presented in the program. In short, the industry was described as a highly illegal US market where despite US restrictions, internet poker gambling simply lacks control.

Frankly speaking, the analysis of the US online casino and poker gambling markets was right- internet gambling is illegal in the US for the gambling companies themselves but not for gamblers, and the program underlined the fact that the current legislation concerning the internet casinos simply doesn’t work at this point.
